Top 10 Men’s Electric Shavers

Below is the top 10 men’s electric shavers in the USA and UK market. This list is updated on a regular basis so you can be certain that these shavers are on trend right now.

Top 10 Men's Electric Shavers

1. Braun Series 3-340s Wet & Dry Shaver

Braun Series 3-340s Wet & Dry ShaverBraun Series 3-340s Wet & Dry ShaverThis is Braun’s number one worldwide foil shaver making it popular in the USA and the UK being the official NFL electric shaver.

These shavers are great for cutting short hair and will remove stubble in a flash. It’s even known to be good cutting three day old beards too. It’s popular because it is without doubt the best all round shaver.

One of it’s major plus points is the fact that it is a wet and dry shaver. This means you can apply gels and foams when using the shaver meaning less irritated skin.

It’s actually known to give a really good smooth shave because it has two foils and a middle trimmer working away under the safety guard, it’s super fast too.

Extra foils means extra hair into the shaver meaning faster shaving times. And guess what, it only takes one hour to charge up and it last a whole week.

So basically these electric shavers are great on longer hair and superb on short hair too. You can even use the shaver in the shower, keep it clean while you use it and no more blocked up sink plug holes.

Just in case you were wondering, yes it does have a hair trimmer included to keep your side burns, beard or moustache looking good.

The shaver even lets you know when it needs charging again featuring a battery level LED display. The quality of shave will not deteriorate because of the battery, it uses a quality battery that is not affected by repeat charges.

Guess what, it even has a quick charge feature for one shave (which is 5 minutes). This will come in so handy for men on the move and ones with a bad memory that will forget to charge their shaver all the time.

So how often do you have to replace the shaver heads? It is recommended that they are replaced every 18 months, certainly beats buying new blades every week for your manual razor, right?

The 340s is more popular than the 380s because it is a lot cheaper and offers pretty much the same performance level, yes you get a hard case and a charging stand with the 380s but it’s obviously not worth the extra cash or more people would go with that one.

It’s also been noted to be one of the best shavers for teenagers who are experiencing shaving for the first time. It’s just so gentle on the skin and is good around acne too.

Some ladies have even purchased this electric shaver because it gives such a close shave that they can use it on their legs.

Planning on taking this on holiday with you? No problem, the charger plug is only about 2 inches square, easily slips into any suitcase or backpack.

You can read more about this best electric shaver for men over at ShaversRated.com, it has been rated their number one top rated men’s shaver too.

  • Might be a little noisy for some

2. Philips Norelco 6948XL/41 Shaver 2100

Philips Norelco 6948XL/41 Shaver 2100Philips Norelco 6948XL/41 Shaver 2100As far as men’s electric shavers go, this is by far one of the best for giving a super clean cut really close shave without any fuss at all.

Need a low maintenance shaver? This is the one for you, it even sharpens the blades itself as you use it. It does have a trimmer included too so you can keep your moustache and side burns looking fine.

The great turn on with this shaver is that you can use it plugged into the mains as well as cordless. This could well be a big selling point for some people.

It takes 8 hours to completely charge up and will then give you 35 minutes shaving time. It doesn’t sound a lot but it actually is, shaving will not take you too long with this bad boy. It also features an LED light to indicate charging status.

It looks like a high end shaver but is in fact actually very reasonably priced, it is a lot cheaper than you would think. Shaving heads will need replacing every 12 months, which isn’t too bad.

The same unit can be used worldwide and is okay for UK and USA power supplies. Although not a wet & dry shaver it can be cleaned with ease using water. Just rinse out all the hair under the tap and leave to dry, simple.

So what makes this one just so appealing to so many people. Well most importantly it is very easy to use and it doesn’t cost the earth either.

Need an extremely quiet electric shaver? Well you have just found it and many people that have used it that have sensitive skin so that it is great and really does reduce the amount of razor bumps that you will get.

Does your current shaver give you razor burn? If the answer is yes then you really do have to give this one a try, it is great and gentle on the skin.

Some people have real trouble getting those hairs underneath the nose, if this is you then fear no more, it does contour to the face really well and will definitely get to those hard to get to places with ease.

Another great feature is the trimmer being a pop up device, it not separate, it is actually attached to the shaver itself and it works like a charm too.

With it being so light makes it great for older people to use too, who wants a heavy electric razor these days. This shaver is light, some say this makes it feel cheap, but who cares, you don’t want your arm to be aching after every time you take a shave do you?

Make sure you do change the blades around the 12 month period, if you don’t you will definitely start to notice some skin irritation.

The only major concern with this shaver is that it does not tell you when the battery is getting low, but who cares, just pop it on charge after you use it or just simple use it plugged it, it’s not a big deal is it?

Rating: 4/5

Good Points:

  • Can be used when plugged into the mains
  • Very quiet and lightweight
  • Good on sensitive skin
  • Integrated pop up trimmer
  • Long shaving time after 8 hours charge
  • Gets into those hard to get to places
  • Holds its charge really well

Bad Points:

  • Is not a wet & dry shaver
  • No notification of when the battery is low
  • Heads have to be changed after only 12 months
  • No stand

3. Philips Norelco PT724/46 Series 3100

Philips Norelco PT724/46 Series 3100Philips Norelco PT724/46 Series 3100Now this is one fine looking electric shaver, does it shave as good as it looks? Yes, it glides over the skin with ease, it’s so smooth to use and incredibly gentle on the skin.

The three shaver heads move in and out in all directions actually so it is particularly good at getting into those hard to shave places.

It’s the next one on from the series 2100 and offers a few little extras that you might like, for starters it looks better and it comes with a nifty charging stand, anything that makes life easier is much appreciated right?

Always have the docking/charging system close by, just drop it in there after each shave and you are ready to go each and every morning.

Just like its predecessor it takes a whopping 8 hours to fully charge but it does give a little more shaving time at 40 minutes per full battery.

The pop up trimmer is a really nice feature that makes keeping your moustache and side burns in trim and looking funky super easy.

This one has a better battery than the previous model being a Lithium-Ion battery, meaning shaving will not deteriorate due to poor battery charge.

The shaver can be used plugged in or cordless, if you want a quick shave you one have to charge it for 3 minutes, everyone has 3 minutes to spare in the morning don’t they.

Men’s electric shavers need to be easy to clean, this one will not let you down in this department, just rinse under the tap and you are good to go.

Again shaving heads have to be replaced every 12 months, other brands don’t need to be changed as often, I think this is a little conservative and you will be okay changing at around 18 months or even longer if you do not use the shaver that often.

This model also features a nifty LED light that lets you know when it is time to recharge the unit, my last shaver did not have this feature so I know how annoying it is when you pick your shaver up and there is no charge in it.

A small negative is the battery can’t be replaced, it’s unlikely that you will ever need to anyway before you want to upgrade to the next revolutionary mens shaver that is out.

However, just like the older model it feels a little cheap being make completely from plastic, on the plus side because of this it is lightweight.

If you are after a fast shave then believe me it will not disappoint, all you guys out there that just want to get the job done as fast as possible can do so with this shaver.

Rating: 4/5

Good Points:

  • Lightweight and easy to use
  • Does not make a lot of noise
  • Is super fast
  • Provides a comfortable shave
  • No burn, very sensitive
  • Really good trimmer

Bad Points:

  • Feels cheap
  • Motor is a little lame, low on noise though
  • Not very robust, will break easily if dropped

4. Panasonic ES8103S Arc 3 with Nanotech Blades

Panasonic ES8103S Arc 3 with Nanotech BladesPanasonic ES8103S Arc 3 with Nanotech BladesHere we have another foil shaver that will provide a super close shave. This is a wet and dry shaver, great news if you enjoy to shave in the shower.

The head moves on a pivot allowing the blades to follow the contours of your face and easily get to all those places where your hairs are growing.

The head is actually adjustable making grooming your facial hair so much more fun. You can mess around with the length settings and get something that works for you. There is also a pop up trimmer should you need to keep your longer hair looking neat and tidy.

The motor is strong, which will allow a quick shave. Cleaning is easy, you just switch it on and put into turbo cleaning mode, this puts the motor into overdrive, which will shake off all the hairs that are stuck in there.

It is marketed at giving a much closer shave with the blade angles reduced much lower than other men’s electric shavers on the market.

Having such a powerful motor means that it makes light work of longer hair, great news for all you guys out there that like to shave once every three days or say.

I know how annoying it can be when razors pull at your hairs, the blades move so fast on this thing that it is very highly unlikely to happen.

Less skin irritation is always a major plus factor, this one will be great on sensitive skin and can even be completely covered in water, meaning you can whack on as much gel or foam onto your face as you want.

The shaver comes with a useful travel bag and is actually quite small and will certainly fit into any suitcase or backpack with no problems at all, it’s not heavy, you wont even notice that its there.

Some people that have purchased this shaver have gone as far as stating that it is the very best shaver out there, it’s certainly one of the best on the market in the mid range price bracket.

The Panasonic is said to give a closer shave than the Norelco and is particularly good around the neck and jaw bone area because of the way the blades move and are positioned.

Because this shaver has such a good motor you will not have to go over the same area as often, meaning your skin is less likely to get irritated, it is one of the best electric shavers around for sensitive skin.

So if you need an electric razor for thick hair that will not tug and pull at it this is the one. It is a really good shaver for beards and is good with stubble too.

Some people, not many, do experience problems with the LED display, it gets temperamental and flickers on and off, its only a small problem that does not affect shaving and is highly unlikely to happen to you.

Rating: 5/5

Good Points:

  • Really good on long hair
  • Does not pull or pinch hair
  • Very fast powerful motor
  • Good on sensitive skin
  • Can be used in the shower
  • Easy to clean
  • Works great around neck and jaw line area

Bad Points:

  • Problems with LED display noted
  • Is considered to be quite loud

5. Remington F5-5800 Rechargeable Foil Shaver

Remington F5-5800 Rechargeable Foil ShaverRemington F5-5800 Rechargeable Foil ShaverHere is another hugely popular foil shaver using pivot and flex technology. It’s easy to keep clean, has a pop up trimmer like all good shavers should and has an LED display that lets you know when it needs recharging.

Major plus point coming up, it can be used with a cord plugged into the mains and cordless. It even has a 5 minute quick charge facility, not really needed if you can just plug it into the wall.

When the shaver is fully charged it will run for a whopping 60 minutes, this is a lot longer and sometimes double most other men’s electric shavers.

It is also good at cutting longer hair and will even make light work of three days beard growth. It’s quite cheap considering it uses stainless steel blades, it doesn’t feel so cheap like some other brands.

It’s not a wet and dry shaver but it can still be splashed with water, this will not be a problem and it makes cleaning it a little easier.

It has also been noted, just like other men’s electric razors that women have used them successfully for shaving their legs and other regions of their body. This one will give women a close shave on their legs.

This is probably the best shaver for shaving your head, won’t just give you a close facial shave, it’s a multi-purpose shaver here.

The interceptor technology sets this shaver apart from others, it means that the trimmer is located between the two foils making it able to cut hair down to just stubble and not have a complete close cut shave.

Some say that this electric razor even cuts as close as a blade would, that’s really good going. If you are still using a manual blade you have no excuse not to switch now.

It’s not the cheapest electric razor out there but it certainly is not the most expensive and is in the low bracket, it is certainly going to be good for most peoples budgets.

The shaver is noted to hold a charge really well and as stated earlier does have a really good long run time for such a short charge period.

It’s not a quiet razor that’s for sure, but it is powerful. The foil replacements are actually quite expensive, some times two thirds the price of the shaver, which could be a real put off for most people.

Some say that this is actually as good as the Braun in the top spot just because it is quite a bit cheaper and you can use it when it is plugged into the mains.

Some say that the shape of the plastic body of the unit makes it slip out of your hands when it gets wet. Might only be a problem for a few.

Rating: 5/5

Good Points:

  • Easy to keep clean, just rinse down with water
  • Has an LED to let you know when it needs recharging
  • Can be used with cord or cordless
  • Has 5 minute quick charge feature
  • Very long run time when fully charged

Bad Points:

  • Is considered to be loud
  • Expensive foil replacements

6. Panasonic ES-RF31 4 Blade Wet & Dry Electric Shaver

Panasonic ES-RF31 4 Blade Wet & Dry Electric ShaverPanasonic ES-RF31 4 Blade Wet & Dry Electric ShaverThis is classed as premium men’s electric shaver at a low price, it looks premium too. Unlike many others on the market it uses 4 cutting blades that are market as being the worlds sharpest on any electric razor.

Uses a pivoting head to get an extremely close shave, well as close as you can get without using a blade that is. It has a fairly fast motor, not as fast as some of the others above but of course this means it is a little quieter.

This bad boy is 100% waterproof and can therefore be used with gels and foams. You can therefore use it in the shower and of course just rinse it down to give it a good clean.

The shave time is rather impressive off just a 1 hour charge, some have to charge for 8 hours to get this amount of usage. For just a 1 hour charge you get a massive 65 minutes shaving time.

I mean why have three blades when you can have four and get the job done a whole lot faster. The foil actually curves outwards which gets incredibly close to the skin, it does give a very good close shave this one.

This one too does have a trimmer incorporated into the device, you just slide it up and you are good to trim baby. The shaver has an LED charging indicator to tell you when the battery is running on low.

New foils are quite expensive and are nearly half the price of the shaver itself, they do last a long time so it’s just better to buy a new shaver when they get to the end of their lifespan. The foils will last around 2 years, sometimes even longer.

A small negative, which might well put many people off this particular shaver is the fact that it can only be used cordless, if you want cord and cordless then this is not the one for you.

The shaver itself does hold charge very well and even if you shave every day it should last you nearly two weeks before you have to charge up again.

Many say that this is the best shaver that they have ever owned, hence its inclusion on the list. It is quiet and is most importantly comfortable to use not only in the hand but on your skin too.

Shave time is impressive even on a 2 to 3 day old beard growth, 4 minutes tops and the job is done. The trimmer release button is in some cases in an awkward position, people have noted that they knock it when they don’t mean to.

For a mid to low priced shaver it is considered top quality and will definitely tick all the right boxes for most people out there.

Beware that some people think that the trimmer is too small to be of any use, might not be a problem for you if that’s not what you are buying it for.

It’s so popular because the price is very good, it looks great and it does in most parts perform as well as the high end electric shavers out there.

Rating: 4/5

Good Points:

  • Cheap but looks premium
  • Uses 4 blades for fast cutting
  • Is a very quiet shaver
  • Can be used in the shower
  • Very quick charge time for long shave time
  • LED charging indicator
  • Comfortable to use

Bad Points:

  • Foils are considered expensive
  • Can only be used cordless
  • Trimmer release in awkward position
  • Trimmer might be too small

7. Braun Series 7-790cc Pulsonic Shaver System

Braun Series 7-790cc Pulsonic Shaver SystemBraun Series 7-790cc Pulsonic Shaver SystemThis shaver is massive worldwide, the only drawback with this one is that it is a lot more expensive than the others. If you are looking for a top of the range top of the marker men’s shaver this is it.

It’s not so straightforward to use either, it has three modes starting at a slow motion for sensitive skin moving on to a faster motion for an intense quick shave.

This is the lazy man’s shaver, all you have to do to clean it is touch a button. The shaver will clean, lubricate, dry and even charge itself by pressing this lovely button.

The shaver feels like it vibrates more than any other shaver that I have ever had, it therefore has no problems shaving those problem areas around the neck and under the nose.

I should also point out that this is a foil shaver and that just like all the others has a built in trimmer to help you trim your longer hair as short as you require it.

The shaver is also waterproof and has an LED display that not only tells you when it needs charging but also when it needs to be cleaned.

For the self cleaning system to work the shaver has cartridges in the side which need to be replaced on a regular basis, many will not want this extra cost. However, you do not need to use this function, you can just rinse it under the tap to keep it clean.

I also have it very good authority that this shaver is perfect for shaving your head too. If you have a bigger budget then don’t be put off by the price, this shaver would be a lot further up the list had it not been so much more expensive than the other shavers.

It just goes to prove that you do not have to spend a lot of money to get a good electric shaver. Many customers state that it is well worth the money, I do too.

So what’s on offer for the extra bucks? You get those extra functions that we have talked about and it looks good, the shave is a little better too in some circumstances.

The unit is not overly loud, however there are quieter shavers out there. A big bonus is the fact that it is so easy to keep hold of when you have wet hands, no chance of dropping this one.

If time is an issue then you might want to stay away from this one, it does not work as quick as some of the others listed above, especially on three day old beards.

For shave quality this is right up there, and I agree, it does give a shave as close as a blade would with many saying that it is better than the Norelco shavers.

The only real negative to mention is that it does take a few goes more over the same area to get the job done, the ultimate close shave is achieved, it just takes a but longer than other shavers.

Rating: 4/5

Good Points:

  • Provides a super close shave
  • Self cleaning
  • Three shaving modes good on sensitive skin
  • Waterproof LED display for cleaning & recharging
  • Good for shaving your head too
  • Looks very stylish
  • Comfortable to use

Bad Points:

  • Expensive compared to others on the market
  • Not very fast
  • Not so easy to use
  • Need to buy cleaning cartridges

8. Panasonic ES-LF51-A Arc 4 Wet & Dry Shaver

Panasonic ES-LF51-A Arc 4 Wet & Dry ShaverPanasonic ES-LF51-A Arc 4 Wet & Dry ShaverThese shavers cut down at a 30 degree angle making sure that you get a closer shave than other models. The unit has a slide up trimmer to keep your side burns in check.

These men’s electric shavers are fully waterproof and can be used in or out of the shower, with or without shaving gel or foam.

The outer foil will need to be changed every year or so, the replacements can be quite expensive, 1/3 of the cost of the unit itself, might put a few people off, still works out cheaper than shaving with a blade.

Because the shaver has 4 blades it significantly reduces shaving time. It has a strong motor which eliminates hair pulling, which of course is a real nuisance when shaving.

To clean it just run it under some warm running water and you are done. The shaver comes with a handy travel pouch, makes it super easy to take on holiday with you.

More good news for all you men with girlfriends and wives out there, this shaver can shave legs a treat, everyone in the house can use it.

These shavers can be used and have been used by many to shave their head too. It’s not the cheapest shaver out there but it certainly covers all bases, it is well worth the money.

A small drawback here, you can’t use the shaver when it is plugged in, it can only be used cordless. There is no length adjustments either, so you can’t maintain three day old stubble unless you get proficient at using the trimmer.

The battery is excellent too and does last a very long time and does stay strong, the shave quality does not deteriorate after time.

So if you want a shaver that provides a good close shave with no pulling or any other irritation then this has to be the one for you. It’s not higher up on the list because other razors perform as good yet are a lot cheaper.

The LED display is pretty cool, it actually tells you how much shaving time you have left. Razors that don’t have this can be annoying, there’s nothing worse than going for a shave and having no battery left.

Being a high end shaver you would think that it would self clean, but it does not, nor does it have a charging stand, might be a problem for some people, this would not put me off.

You actually get around 45 minute shave time when fully charged, not quite as much as some of the cheaper shavers out there, but how much shave time do you actually need anyway.

With this shaver you will only have to go over the hairy area a couple of times, some say it’s not as good on the neck area as other shavers.

Rating: 4/5

Good Points:

  • Provides a good close shave
  • Fully waterproof
  • Strong motor reducing shave time
  • Comes with travel pouch
  • Good at shaving your head too
  • Strong long lasting battery

Bad Points:

  • Expensive compared to other shavers
  • Expensive foil replacements
  • Can’t be used plugged in

9. Philips Norelco 1250X/40 SensoTouch 3D Electric Razor

Philips Norelco 1250X/40 SensoTouch 3D Electric RazorPhilips Norelco 1250X/40 SensoTouch 3D Electric RazorStraight off the bat, this shaver works wet and dry, yes you can use it in the shower or just have a quick dry shave over the sink.

As you can see the head looks a little different to all other shavers, which is why it is called the 3D shaver. The head moves on a spring and can really get into all those hard to get to places.

It’s not the most popular because it is expensive, although it does provide a really good shave so do many cheaper models, it does look good though.

Just like all the others this too does have a pop up trimmer. The latest version is called the 7300 and has all the same great features mentioned here.

With three cutting areas mounted on a spring like pivot you are sure not to miss any areas, these shavers are quick, but are they worth the money?

Well, for just one hour charging time you get a whopping 50 minutes shaving time, this beats many other shavers hands down. You are not going to have to recharge the thing for weeks.

What makes this better than other shavers is its pivoting system, it glides around the face with ease moving with the face rather than against it, many suffer less irritation on the skin with this shaver than with others.

It is also great at cutting long hair as well as short hair and hard to remove stubble. With this model you do get a charging stand and a travel pouch thrown in too.

This shaver has a quick charge facility too, if you forget to charge it just plug it in for three minutes and it is good to go for one more shave, which is a real life saver at times.

This is a great shaver for travellers because the unit adjusts its voltage so it can work in just about any country worldwide.

A bad point, which might put many people off is that you can’t charge the shaver without the stand, the good news is that the stand does fold up small.

This means that the shaver can’t be used when plugged in. Many happy customers state that it is good for shaving your head too.

Another put off is that cleaning is a little awkward, you have to open up and clean each head separately, which could take more time than other shavers out there.

It does however provide a very comfortable shave but is way down the list because of its price and the fact that cleaning is just too much of a hassle.

Rating: 5/5

Good Points:

  • Can be used in the shower
  • Gets in all those hard to get to places
  • Looks impressive
  • Fully charges in 1 hour
  • Has a 3 minute one shave quick charge
  • Great for shaving your head too
  • Adjusts voltage great for travellers

Bad Points:

  • Is rather expensive
  • Needs the stand to charge
  • Can’t be used when plugged in
  • Annoying to clean

10. Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc 4 Wet & Dry Shaver

Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc 4 Wet & Dry ShaverPanasonic ES-LA63-S Arc 4 Wet & Dry ShaverThis bad boy has a super fast linear motor drive system working on 4 blades cutting at 30 degrees, it certainly provides a fast very effective close shave.

It only takes one hour to fully charge and will give you 45 minutes shave time, some take 8 hours to fully charge so this is a massive bonus.

The foils are really thin and are very good on sensitive skin, it’s unlikely that this will irritate your skin. Just like the others here this too has a pop up side burn and moustache trimmer.

The useful LED display lets you know when the shaver needs to be recharged. It is easy to clean too, just whack it into sonic vibration mode to shake off all those hairs stuck in there.

Comes with a neat little travel pouch too for when you go on your holidays. It also has a safety lock, will stop the shaver going off while it is in your suitcase.

The shaving power will not reduce when the battery goes down either, it will remain strong and give a good shave right up until it needs recharging.

One major bad point with most Panasonic shavers is that the batteries can’t be replaced, you are going to have to buy a new shaver when the battery dies I am afraid to say.

As you can see the head area is quite large making it rather difficult to shave around the nose area, which is why this shaver is so low down on the list. Some have to use other shavers to do this area, which isn’t very good.

The good news is that you do not need to oil the blades and it works really well at shaving your head having such a large shaving surface area, it works better than most skull shavers.

These men’s electric shavers do provide a really good wet shave around the face and neck, not so good under the nose. It’s pretty close to shaving with a blade, if not just as good.

Does provide a good dry shave but not as good as wet, as you would expect it’s not as comfortable. Cleaning is easy, just rinse under water and then pop the motor on, job done.

On the downside it is very expensive and having such a large head makes precision shaving a little difficult. It’s hard to shave beards and sideburns with this thing.

However some say that it has provided them with the best shave that they have ever had and having such a good battery life is a massive bonus.

To get the absolute best out of this shaver you need to use it wet with shaving cream or a very good gel. If you want a good dry shaver then this is definitely not for you.

Rating: 4/5

Good Points:

  • Fast motor, fast shaving time
  • Only takes 1 hour to charge for 45 minutes shaving time
  • Thin foils, good on sensitive skin
  • Easy to clean in sonic vibration mode
  • LED lets you know when to recharge
  • Good head shaver
  • Provides a good close wet shave

Bad Points:

  • Batteries can’t be replaced
  • Difficult to shave under the nose
  • Not so good for dry shaving
  • Very expensive
